I had the pleasure a touring an off-market home in Fairfax a few weeks ago. Set on over 1/2 acre down Cascade Canyon - this beautiful home was purchased off-market in 2019 by a family that was intent on updating the worn-down home and took great pride in preserving its original charm. The agent told me how they refinished the redwood paneled walls and painstakingly restored the original wood cabinets, even after the previous owner had painted some of them black. The avocado green countertop "proved a thing or two about longevity" she said. The home sold off-market in about a week. I love this sentiment. We don't always need to rip apart a space when updated or remodeling. What can we use or refinish that will help to preserve its history but also be beautiful and functional? It's a great mindset to have in terms of sustainability as well, especially with World Health Day & Earth Day approaching. x Michela

So far in 2022, Bay Area real estate markets appear largely to be unfazed by higher interest rates, volatility in financial markets, and troubling international events. The prevailing dynamic remains one of strong buyer demand competing for an inadequate inventory of listings for sale: Crowded open houses, multiple offers, fierce overbidding, and fast sales remain common.
